Be a Part of Our 2026–2027 Class: Applications Now Open!
Every student in Iowa deserves access to an exceptional education, and at Cedar Rapids Prep, we deliver on this for your child.
As a public charter school, all students in the state of Iowa who are able to get to our school in person every day are eligible to apply. There are no entrance exams and no tuition; students must simply apply before the deadline to be eligible for admission.

Step 1: Fill Out an Application
Simply complete our online application by submitting your student’s name, contact information, and parent or guardian details. Applications for 6th and 7th grade have now moved to a waitlist for next year. Applications for 8th and 9th grade are being accepted on a rolling basis until all seats are filled.

Step 2: Await a Decision
Families will be notified of their student’s application status by no later than February 24, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
6th and 7th Grade:Student applications received by February 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. for 6th and 7th grade will enter a blind lottery to be held on February 24, 2026. Applications received after the February 17 cutoff will be waitlisted.
8th and 9th Grade:Student applications for 8th and 9th grade will be accepted on a rolling basis until all seats are filled.
How the Lottery Works:All applications submitted by the February 17, 2026 deadline for lottery grades will be entered into a blind lottery held on February 24, 2026. Student names will be randomly drawn to fill available spots, with remaining applicants placed on a waitlist in the order drawn. Families will be notified of their application status within 24 hours of the lottery and must promptly confirm their spot.
Step 3: Enroll
After receiving notification of acceptance, you will be invited to complete the enrollment package, which will include items such as health forms, transcripts, proof of residency, and other relevant documents. Submitting the enrollment forms in a timely manner will secure your student’s spot at Cedar Rapids Prep. Until these forms are received, your student is not officially enrolled at Cedar Rapids Prep. Lack of prompt paperwork will result in forfeiting your spot.

Meet Mr. Tuttle! 🌟
Mr. Tuttle is joining the Cedar Rapids Prep family as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher! With 12 years of experience teaching in middle grades, he brings a passion for building meaningful relationships with students and creating engaging, welcoming classroom communities.
This year, Mr. Tuttle is excited to meet all of his students, establish fun classroom traditions, and collaborate with the incredible team at Cedar Rapids Prep. Known for bringing humor and positivity to the classroom, he hopes to make students and colleagues smile throughout the year.
Beyond academics, Mr. Tuttle hopes students recognize the impact that caring adults can have in their lives. Inspired by teachers, coaches, camp counselors, youth leaders, and family members who helped shape his own journey, he is committed to passing that same gift on to the Bisons of Cedar Rapids Prep.
When not at school, Mr. Tuttle enjoys golfing, hiking, going to the movies, playing trivia games, and spending time with his wife, Natalie, and their shih tzu puppy, George Michael.

Meet Mrs. Silbernagel! 🌟
Mrs. Silbernagel is joining the Cedar Rapids Prep family as a Middle School Math Teacher! With 17 years of experience teaching secondary mathematics at Prairie High School and Benton Community Middle School, she has taught 8th Grade Math, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and AP Statistics. She brings a passion for helping students grow in both confidence and mathematical thinking.
This year, Mrs. Silbernagel is excited to become part of the Cedar Rapids Prep community after experiencing the positive culture shared by the teachers, administration, and students. She looks forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and success both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond academics, Mrs. Silbernagel hopes her students develop confidence in their ability to learn and believe they can accomplish hard things. She strives to create a classroom where students feel safe to be themselves, take risks, and always do their best as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of middle school.
Outside of school, Mrs. Silbernagel enjoys cheering on her daughters at basketball games and has become a big fan of the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Fever. She also loves playing volleyball, traveling, and spending time with her family playing board games.

Mr. Dodd is joining the Cedar Rapids Prep family as our new Physical Education Teacher! With 3 years of experience in education, he brings a passion for helping students grow through movement, teamwork, and positive challenges.
As Cedar Rapids Prep’s first full-time PE teacher, Mr. Dodd is excited to introduce fresh, fun, and engaging activities that help students build confidence and develop a lifelong love of being active.
Beyond physical education, he hopes students learn that effort and growth matter more than being the best, and that challenges are opportunities to improve and succeed.
When not at school, Mr. Dodd enjoys golfing, fishing, working out, and grilling.

Ms. Kasch is joining the Cedar Rapids Prep family as an Administrative Assistant! While this is her first year in education, Ms. Kasch is excited to begin this new chapter and make a positive impact on the lives of students.

After a multi-month national search that involved over 100 applicants and recruits, we’re proud to welcome Dr. Lauren Amicone as the next leader of Cedar Rapids Prep.
Lauren comes to us from Kansas City, where she most recently led Garfield Elementary School to state level recognition and record growth. She is excited to make Cedar Rapids home, as she joins the community with her three young kids and husband.

Who is eligible to enroll?
Cedar Rapids Prep is currently accepting applications for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. Students must be residents of the state of Iowa.
What are the admissions requirements?
Cedar Rapids Prep welcomes all students who have a passion for learning and a desire to grow academically and personally. There are no academic prerequisites or selection criteria.
Do siblings of Cedar Rapids Prep students get priority enrollment?
Siblings of current Cedar Rapids Prep students are automatically given acceptance so long as an application has been received by the February 17, 2026 deadline. If a sibling does not submit an application before the deadline, they are not guaranteed admission. Note that siblings bypass the lottery, before the lottery drawing begins, all siblings that have applied are provided a spot and the remaining spots are filled with non-sibling applicants via the lottery.
