Exciting news for education in Iowa!
Principal Justin Blietz and a few lucky students were in attendance as Governor Reynolds signed a proclamation for Charter School Week, celebrating the incredible opportunities these schools provide. To top it off, Senator Amy Sinclair gave students a tour of the State Capital and introduced them to local representatives. The students left on cloud nine!

From morning advisory to rotating electives, Abby is helping design a school day that puts students first, with structure, support, and choice.
📚 “It’s built in a way that gives educators the time they need to really get to know their students,” Abby shares.
💡 Each day begins with advisory, where every student is paired with their dedicated advisor for ongoing guidance. Then it’s on to core subjects and a rotating schedule of eight electives, giving students the chance to explore their interests in meaningful ways.
At CRP, every part of the day is intentionally designed to support both academic growth and personal connection.

👋 Meet Michael, our Founding Math Teacher at Cedar Rapids Prep!
📚 With over 15 years of teaching experience, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge from both local and international classrooms. He’s taught 6–12 grade math in Iowa and abroad, including 7 years at the International School of Belgrade, where he led rigorous IB Middle Years and Diploma math programs.
✏️ He’s also served as a 6–12 Math Lead for Cedar Rapids middle and high schools, supporting curriculum, instruction, and assessment across the district.
❤️ Michael is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for every student, whether they`re in a high-needs school or an academically accelerated environment. He holds a master’s degree in differentiated learning and instruction and believes every student can succeed with the right support.
💙 His favorite thing about Cedar Rapids? The people and deep family roots in the southwest side, where his family once farmed on the old Wieneke land.
