Introducing Cedar Rapids Prep
We are excited to welcome 6th and 7th grade students to Cedar Rapids Prep in August 2025. Enrollment is currently open, and we also have a waitlist for 8th grade students. Read this post to learn more about why we founded Cedar Rapids Prep and the exciting things to come.
The Founding of Cedar Rapids Prep
While Cedar Rapids Prep offers a rigorous academic experience similar to that of a private school, it is a public school that is tuition free and available to any student.
Cedar Rapids Prep is backed by Opportunity Education, a non-profit foundation that addresses the evolving educational needs of students. Our team believes that the way we educate students needs to adapt to keep up with our ever-changing world. Students need to be prepared to tackle today’s challenges as well as the unknown challenges they’ll face in the future.
Cedar Rapids Prep was founded to help address this need and is committed to helping students develop the critical habits and skills that will allow them to succeed. Every one of our students learns how to communicate effectively, practice curiosity, and navigate challenges.
Our curriculum and programs support our mission to empower students to invest, own, and drive their learning by prioritizing active learning and engagement.
Located on a Beautiful, 19-Acre Campus
Cedar Rapids Prep is building a campus for grades 6-12 that will leverage the natural beauty of the area. Plans are already underway to develop a state-of-the-art campus with college-level lab and STEM spaces for innovative learning opportunities. Our full-size, turf field stadium will be the true centerpiece of our athletic complex, which will include tennis courts, a field house, and a full-size, competition gymnasium.
While we build the new facilities, we will accommodate our founding classes in the adjacent and newly renovated Edgewood Pointe Towers.

Justin is a proud Cedar Rapidian with a strong track record of success in education. He was born and raised in the Cedar Rapids community and currently lives here with his wife and children. Justin has 15 years of educational experience in schools and districts across the country, including Houston, Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids. His seven years of school and district-level leadership in Cedar Rapids includes serving as the Principal of Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy. Justin focuses on academic excellence and creates a culture where all students feel safe, supported, and connected.
